The Dark Angels 1st Assault Wing was formed in the Earth year 2260 by President Clarke and his board of advisors, consisting of Earth Force, Psi Core and Night Watch. The sole purpose of the fighter wing was to eliminate capital ships as quickly and as efficiently as possible. They were the only Earth Force fighter wing to have a registered telepath with a P.12 rating as a permanent member. This gave them a significant advantage in combat in knowing their enemies’ moves before they did and finding weak points to exploit. They were trained in many techniques not normally practiced in Earth Force to make them the most lethal pilots in possible.

They spent three months training in Hyperspace, learning how to navigate off beacon and masking engine and radio emissions Also while inside Hyperspace the telepaths powers are increased allowing the Squadron deadly accuracy in finding targets and destroying them.

It was not until Earth year 2261 when Captain John J. Sheridan and his command staff aboard Babylon 5 declared independence from Earth that the Dark Angels finally got the chance to fight. As Sheridan and his forces approached Earth, they were gaining support from the very forces sent to destroy them. President Clarke called a meeting with his advisors and made the decision to eliminate all Earth Force Destroyers that had allied themselves with Sheridan. The Dark Angels advanced training was ideal for this task and they were deployed inside Hyperspace with one order...destroy all Earth ships loyal to Sheridan.

Initially a squad of 20 Starfurys, the ensuing battle destroyed all but 8 of them. They limped to the nearest beacon and returned to normal space. The battle had cost Sheridan 2 Omega Destroyers and 7 Starfurys; also 3 ships were badly damaged. The Dark Angels commander reported an outstanding victory and was one that impressed Sheridan greatly.

After the Earth civil war, Sheridan formed the Inter Stellar Alliance. The remaining Dark Angels swore a new allegiance to Sheridan, one that they had no intention of keeping. The Dark Angels secretly plotted revenge on Sheridan and found people who held the same views.

The Dark Angels are not strong enough to strike, so they have constructed a fire base on an abandoned moon on the outskirts of Brakiri space, waiting until their forces are powerful enough to destroy the Inter Stellar Alliance and claim vengeance.
